Summary: Performs variety of tasks including installation of apparatus and control instrumentation used to test experimental or prototype mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, hydro-mechanical, or structural products, and conducts tests and records results by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Confers with engineering personnel to resolve fabrication problems relating to specifications and to review test plans such as types and cycles of tests, conditions under which tests are to be conducted, and duration of tests.
- Examines parts for conformance with dimensional specifications.
- Coordinates and participates in installing unit or system to be tested connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source, and indicating instruments.
- Activates controls to apply electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical power and subject test item to successive steps in test cycle.
- Monitors controls and instruments and records test data for engineer's use.
- Troubleshoots equipment malfunction such as valves, gaskets, gas pressure and air flow servos, nozzles, burner units, pumps, electric motors and electric control panels.
- Testing will occur using natural gas, propane, heavy oil or diesel fuel.
- Perform hydrostatic testing of boilers.
- Employee will be required to use natural gas, diesel, electricity, steam, compressed air and hot water for generator testing.
- Experience with Low emission burners and related equipment is a plus but not a requirement.
- Must have good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to read blueprint/schematics, sketch specifications.

SUMMARY
Maintains and repairs stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries by performing the following duties. Diagnose the cause of equipment malfunction or failure. Disassembles repairs and reassembles components and units as required. Adjusts and calibrates equipment to operating specifications. Assembles and installs new units as required. Sells Assured Preventive Maintenance Programs, service & repair parts, compounds and chemicals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Receives working instructions, work orders, blueprints or drawings from supervisor. Reviews job requirements and verifies that the required tools, equipment, parts, material, and manuals are part of the service vehicle inventory. Diagnoses the cause of equipment malfunction or failure by interviewing customer, using appropriate monitoring and test equipment. Disassembles repairs and reassembles units as required. Uncrates and assembles new units according to specifications. Trains customer-operating personnel. Cleans or directs other workers to clean boilers and auxiliary equipment. Inspects and repairs boiler fittings such as safety valves, regulators, automatic control mechanisms, and water columns, and auxiliary machines such as pumps, draft fans, stokers, and burners. Replaces damaged boiler tubes and plates. Repairs or replaces high-pressure piping. Patches boiler insulation, Paints surface of equipment. Performs water pressure test by pumping water into system to determine location of leaks.
QUALIFICATIONS

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Position, align, fit, clamp, tack and weld parts in assigned work area
- Clean and prepare surface to be welded
- Proficient in horizontal, vertical and 6G welding positions that includes MIG Welding and TIG Welding for pipe and sheet metal
- Thick Steel Pipe Welding experience
- High efficiency in pipe/tube cutting, grinding, threading and fabrication
- Examines work piece as determined by work order specifications
- Examines work piece visually, by touch, or using tape rule, calipers, or gauges to ensure product meets desired standards
- Follow company safety policies and procedures
- Knowledge of common welding practices and procedures
- Must be able to lift/move a minimum of 25 lbs or more
- Must be able to perform assembly work with pumps and sheet metal assembly
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 5 years’ experience with fabrication shop equipment
- 5 years metal work experience preferred
