Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Summary: Researches, develops, designs, and tests mechanical and electromechanical components, equipment, and systems by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties & responsibilities include the following:
· Design steam generator based electromechanical equipment, components, and related systems for commercial and industrial applications. · Utilize individual and team effort to design sheet metal fabrications & machined components. Integrate designed components into assembly level system designs to support company products. Develop methods and procedures for testing company products. · Develop competitive cost effective mechanical designs that meet the requirements of Clayton Industries and the boiler market for use in both the domestic and international markets. · Working knowledge of sheet metal design & fabrication including cutting, forming, and welding on carbon & stainless steel materials is preferred. Working knowledge with ANSI 14.5 & AWS Standards is desirable. · Working knowledge of ASME Boiler & pressure vessel code requirements is preferred. Knowledge of UL, ABS, Lloyds, & DNV agency requirements is desirable. · Participates with manufacturing to insure company products are fabricated, assembled and tested in conformance with all applicable code requirements, company specifications, and customer requirements. · Participates with Clayton test personnel to insure product testing and test cell environments meet company requirements. · Support field installation and commissioning of company products. Support Clayton service personnel in diagnosing & rectifying Clayton equipment and related systems already installed at customer locations. · It is required that the candidate be fluent in the use of basic engineering techniques & applications for mechanical design as well as the use of mechanical engineering and design software to model and analyze (thermal & mechanical stress and fluid flow) company products. It is preferable that the candidate has a strong working knowledge of PRO-E (PTC) 3-D solids modeling software. · Other duties or responsibilities may be assigned as necessary by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: The minimum education level must include a completed Bachelor's degree (BSME) from an accredited four-year college or university within the United States. The experience level desired is a candidate with a minimum of ten years related experience. A Masters degree in mechanical engineering is highly desired and will be given preference over non-Master degreed candidates. Proficiency with 3-D solids modeling on current software is required.
Language Skills: The candidate must be fluent in English. This means the candidate must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business & engineering periodicals and information, professional journals, technical procedures, and agency/governmental regulations; and have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, & procedure manuals as well as have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public all in English. Spanish as a second language is desirable.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply college level engineering mathematical concepts. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability: Candidate must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of engineering and non-engineering variables in situations where only limited information or product standardization exists. Ability to interpret & incorporate a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. The candidate must possess a fundamental common sense approach to problem solving and design.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, the individual should have excellent working knowledge of CADD & Analysis software. Candidates with extensive 3-D/Modeling experience, especially using PRO-E CADD software, will be given preference. The candidate must be Internet literate and proficient in Microsoft software including Word, Excel, & Access. It is preferable that the candidate have substantial experience with current MRPII software used in a Manufacturing environment.
